Hello LoVers,

Coffee anyone? Coffee dates often get a bad rap, but they’re actually one of the best ways to get to know someone in a low-pressure, authentic setting. They create a relaxed, uncomplicated environment where both people can truly focus on conversation. The daytime setting keeps things casual and comfortable, with fewer expectations, allowing you to genuinely get a sense of someone’s energy, values, and communication style without distractions. This is true for first dates but also for 2nd, 3rd and beyond.

I recommend choosing a café with seating that encourages face-to-face conversation (not side-by-side…too soon for that!) and aim to keep the date around an hour to leave room for curiosity and a second meeting. So go on and ask ‘em out! Low pressure does not mean low value. Read that again.

Want to chat? Get in touch to I can see if I can help and get in the Jillin’ It LoVe Club for monthly live roundtables, preferred database status, discounts on events and so much more.

HOT TOPIC: How Long it Really Takes to Get Over an Ex

ree

After a relationship ends, many people still feel emotions for their ex-partners. Depending on whether someone wanted the breakup or not, it can be difficult to emotionally “get over” an ex-partner. This is especially true if a relationship has lasted for many years when getting a divorce. Two open questions in psychological research are whether it is possible to completely dissolve all emotional bonds with an ex and how long this process usually takes.

TOP 3: Ways to Build Confidence While Dating

ree
  1. Know Your Value: Before you can connect with someone else, you need to be grounded in what you bring to the table—whether it’s your sense of humor, resilience, kindness, ambition, or life experience. Make a short list of your strengths and reread it when doubt creeps in.
  2. Practice, Don’t Perform: Instead of aiming to "impress" a date, focus on being curious and present. Think of dating as practice—not a performance. Every date, even a mediocre one, is experience that builds your comfort and authenticity.
  3. Make Small Promises to Yourself: Confidence grows when you trust yourself. That means following through on boundaries you’ve set, not chasing people who treat you poorly, and speaking up when something doesn’t feel right. Self-respect fuels lasting confidence.
