Hello LoVers,

One of the most confusing dating situations isn't when someone is treating you badly. It's when they seem to like you, things feel good and you still don't know where you stand. But before you have the "clarity conversation" remember, it isn't only about asking... "Do you want to commit to me?" You MUST first ask yourself "Do I want to commit to this?"

Is this partnership in alignment with the life I want to live, the family plans I have in my heart, the relationship that I would be proud to have my children be a witness to and most importantly... the partnership I would like to model for them to aspire to? That has always been my North Star.

I implore you to remember that someone liking you isn't the only qualifier. What makes you feel safe, cared for and secure? Is it consistency? Clear communication? Emotional vulnerability? Future planning? Knowing you can depend on one another?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer. But you need to know your own answer over all else AND be willing to share it. Asking for clarity isn't needy. It's how you discover whether you're intentionally building the same kind of relationship and if you don't feel safe enough to share what you need, that may tell you more than their answer ever could.

Clarity isn't only about whether they choose you. It's about whether you would consciously choose this relationship, too.

What are your three most important relationship qualifiers? If you can't name them yet, that's the perfect place to begin.

Singles Spotlight: Is HE Your Match?

WOMEN, ages 59-67, in CT/NYC...Are you intelligent, educated, and curious? Do you have the freedom to travel? Are you kind, loyal, and active?

If this sounds like you, you might be a match for my easygoing and naturally adaptable client, P. P is the kind of person who doesn't get hung up on the small things. He describes himself as introverted but social, with a witty sense of humor and a generous spirit. He gets genuine satisfaction from doing things for others, whether volunteering at a food pantry, cooking for a local family, or simply being there for the people in his life. He is curious by nature. He loves jazz, rock, theater, and live performances, and enjoys getting out to museums, restaurants, and other cultural experiences as well as preparing a home cooked meal.

HOT TOPIC: "Cushioning" in Dating

The term "cushioning" comes from the phrase "cushion your fall." Now, it may be natural to continue to date multiple people before you've gone exclusive with someone. However, once you're my-one-and-only with each other, the expectation is usually that neither of you will continue to keep others around as dating possibilities. Not everyone follows that convention, though.

Read about it here and tell me what you think!

TOP 3: Ways to Stop Checking Ex's Social Media

  1. Make it harder to access: Unfollow, mute, block, or remove their profile from your search history. Don't rely on willpower when you can remove the trigger.

  2. Replace the urge instead of fighting it: When you want to check, wait 10 minutes and do something else—text a friend, take a walk, journal, or put your phone down. Most urges peak and pass.

  3. Ask what you're hoping to find: Before checking, ask: "What am I expecting to see—and will seeing it actually make me feel better?" Usually, you're looking for reassurance, closure, or a sign they still care. Social media rarely provides any of those.
