Hello LoVers,

Be honest: Do you really want to know EVERYTHING your partner did before you?

I'm ALL FOR honesty in relationships. This isn't permission to lie, hide something important, or be deceptive. But honesty doesn't mean giving someone immediate access to every chapter of your life. So many pieces of your past made you who you are today: relationships, heartbreaks, mistakes, lessons, ALL OF IT. Revealing those pieces too quickly can mean sharing them before someone has enough context to understand who you became because of them.

And maybe even more importantly, be thoughtful about what you ask. We sometimes go digging into someone's past in the name of "total honesty" without stopping to consider whether we actually want the answers. Does knowing this help me understand this person and the relationship we're creating? Or am I asking something I may wish I could unhear?

You can't un-know something once someone tells you. So only ask the questions you're truly prepared to hear the answers to.

The right relationship will eventually make room for the whole book. You just don't need to read every chapter on the first few dates when they've really only seen the cover.

If you're looking for a more thoughtful approach to dating, from meeting the right people to navigating what happens once you do, I'm here for you. Through private matchmaking and coaching, let's make dating feel a little more human and a lot less complicated.

HOT TOPIC: Relationship Durability

Attraction in a relationship is a measure of intensity. That is, how strongly two people are drawn to each other, how quickly the connection forms and how much energy the relationship generates in its early months. What it does not measure is durability, because durability isn't tested by attraction. It's tested by conflict, disappointment, and the accumulated friction of two people living inside each other's lives for years at a time.

Read about it here and tell me what you think!

TOP 3: Ways to Rebuild Trust

  1. Look for consistency over time: Trust comes back when their words and actions repeatedly match. One apology doesn't rebuild trust, patterns do.

  2. Set clear expectations going forward: Be specific about what honesty means to you and what behavior would damage trust again.

  3. Don't force yourself to get over it: You can forgive someone and still need time before you feel safe again. Rebuilding trust isn't a switch you can flip.
