Singles Sparks, Your Weekly Love Link, Jillin It. Professional, Local, CT matchmaker, Jill Dunn

Hello LoVers,

Most singles have a love/hate relationship with dating apps. Let’s be honest, it’s usually more hate than love. Sure, they’re convenient, but they often lead to burnout, ghosting, and connections that fizzle fast. Meeting someone in the wild, at an event, a concert, coffee shop, or even the produce aisle offers something apps can’t, natural chemistry, shared moments, and an unfiltered sense of someone’s vibe.

Studies even show that couples who meet offline report deeper initial connections and longer-lasting relationships. This week, try shifting your focus back to real life. Make eye contact, give a compliment to a stranger, or start a conversation. A simple “Is that any good?” or “I love your dog!” Might be all it takes. Love might be standing right next to you. Go get ‘em.

BIG NEWS will be coming in the following weeks regarding SINGLES EVENTS (think: MORE events + more variety + more AGE specific events too!) and also some announcements regarding new members of the Jillin’ It team and how they’ll be supporting YOU! So excited to share. Great things to come!

But first, SAVE THE DATE: Friday, August 8th we’ll be at Sign of the Whale in Stamford, CT for a Rooftop Singles Mixer. Tickets go live this week! See you soon, singles. xo

TOP 3: Signs Someone is Untrustworthy

signs someone is trust worthy, not trusting, jill'in it match maker
  1. Inconsistent Storytelling: Research shows that liars often struggle to keep their narratives straight, not because they forget the truth, but because they juggle multiple cognitive tasks. For instance, one study found that the cognitive difficulty of simultaneously providing narrative details and maintaining consistency slows liars' response times and introduces inconsistencies in their deception.

  2. Overemphasis on Honesty: If someone insists they’re honest and does so unprompted and repeatedly, this is likely a smoke screen. Research shows that overemphasizing integrity, especially without prompting, can be a strategy to mask or divert attention from deceptive behaviors and preempt suspicion.

  3. Excessive Flattery: While compliments can be warm and affirming, exaggerated flattery—especially early in a relationship—may be used to lower your guard. Research shows that such praise often serves as a manipulation tactic rather than a sign of genuine esteem.
