Hello LoVers,

When I noticed that this week's newsletter is Issue #143, it instantly transported me back to a much simpler time. Long before emojis, texting, and dating apps, "143" was a simple shorthand for "I love you." It had been passed around in notes and conversations for years, but the pager era made those three little numbers iconic.

Three numbers. Three words. One simple message.

It got me thinking...

Somewhere along the way, we've started believing that more information, more strategies, and more complexity automatically lead to better results. We see it everywhere. Fitness has become tracking macros, wearables, supplements, and endless opinions instead of simply moving our bodies. Parenting comes with a constant stream of experts and pressure to optimize every moment. And dating?

We've added apps, algorithms, attachment styles, texting rules, green flags, red flags, and enough advice to make anyone's head spin.

Don't get me wrong... I love learning, and helping people date better is what I DO. But I often notice that complexity is mistaken for progress.

When I look at the healthiest relationships I've had the privilege of witnessing, they're surprisingly SIMPLE. Two people who are kind. Curious. Honest. Consistent. They communicate. They laugh. They repair after conflict. And they continue choosing each other, over and over again.

Maybe we don't need another dating hack.

Maybe we just need a little more 143.

A little more honesty. A little more clarity. A little less decoding and a little more saying what we mean.

Technology has changed the way we communicate but it hasn't changed what people need to feel loved.

P.S. Speaking of creating more opportunities for love, I'm excited to share a brand-new partnership that expands meaningful opportunities for LGBTQ+ singles. Scroll down for all the details!

If you're tired of decoding mixed signals, swiping endlessly, and wondering if there's a better way... there is. 🌈 LGBTQ+ LoVers!

One of my favorite parts of my work as a matchmaker is collaborating with likeminded professionals who genuinely care about helping others find LOVE.

I'm thrilled to share a new partnership with Dr. Frankie Bashan, licensed clinical psychologist and founder of Little Gay Book, a nationally recognized LGBTQ+ matchmaking community that has been connecting singles for nearly 20 years. Dr. Frankie and her team have facilitated over 25,000 matchmaking introductions and continue to serve LGBTQ+ singles across the country through private matchmaking, coaching, and events.

If you're part of the LGBTQ+ community and looking for a meaningful relationship, you now have the opportunity to join Little Gay Book's confidential directory. There's no cost to be included, and you may be considered for introductions to one of Dr. Frankie's private matchmaking clients.

Love is for everyone, and I'm so excited to be able to offer another thoughtful avenue for our LGBTQ+ community to make meaningful connections.

Singles Spotlight: Is HE Your Match?

WOMEN, ages 65-80, in CT/NY/NJ ... Are you warm, grounded, and curious? Do you value kindness, honesty, and emotional maturity? Do you appreciate culture, conversation, and comfort?

If this sounds like you, you may be a match for my thoughtful, accomplished, and quietly adventurous client, T. T is intellectually curious and thoughtful. He loves culture, great conversation, and evenings that feel intentional—cooking together, films by the fire, or sunset boat rides on the lake. A seasoned traveler, he prefers meaningful travel over rushing: exploring by car, lingering in one place, and looks forward to sharing time in northern Italy or southern France with a partner who values depth and connection as much as he does.

HOT TOPIC: Instant Connection

Sometimes you meet someone, and you just know that you can communicate. It happens that you say hello to a new coworker or share small talk with a security officer, and you have an instant sense of connectedness. Most probably, you had that feeling with the closest of your friends or your romantic partners from the very first time you met. Here, I've gathered some possible reasons for that phenomenon from psychological research on interpersonal relationships.

Read about it here and tell me what you think!

TOP 3: Reasons Feeling Sparks on a First Date Doesn't Matter

  1. Feeling sparks on the first date may be an indication of anxiety rather than a sign of compatibility: Research has demonstrated that a higher level of anxiety in the moment may be more likely to increase your attraction toward a potential partner than would have been felt otherwise.

  2. Chemistry has the potential to grow over time: A genuine connection often can and will take time to develop. Just because the chemistry isn't immediate doesn't mean that there isn't potential for it to build over time.

  3. Feeling chemistry on the first date is not indicative of compatibility or shared values: Successful relationships are typically built on shared core values, long-term goals, and emotional intimacy. These are not qualities typically apparent on a first date.
